ASPs

Hifn Applied Services Processors (ASP’s) are purpose-built to handle all of the heavy-lifting required for encryption, compression and hashing for de-duplication, enabling next-generation products. Hifn’s ASPs address the growing market requirements for optimization and securing of data in transit or at rest.

Glossary

byte reversal

Process of storing numeric data with the least-significant byte first. Used for integers and addresses on devices with Intel microprocessors.

Glossary

CP

1. Control Point. In SNA networks, element that identifies the APPN networking components of a PU 2.1 node, manages device resources, and provides services to other devices. In APPN, CPs are able to communicate with logically adjacent CPs by way of CP-to-CP sessions. See also EN and NN. 2. Telecommunications: Control Processor.

Glossary

NN

1. Network Node. SNA intermediate node that provides connectivity, directory services, route selection, intermediate session routing, data transport, and network management services to LEN nodes and ENs. The NN contains a CP that manages the resources of both the NN itself and those of the ENs and LEN nodes in its domain. NNs provide intermediate routing services by implementing the APPN PU 2.1 extensions. Compare with EN. See also CP. 2. Neural Network. A network of many simple processors that imitates a biological neural network. Neural networks have some ability to "learn" from experience, and are used in applications such as speech recognition, robotics, medical diagnosis, signal processing, and weather forecasting. Also called artificial neural network.
